NaFFAA Region 8 is pleased to invite you to its upcoming Regional Summit “Expanding our Roots: Providing Access and Opportunities to Strengthen our Foundation” on Saturday, November 10, 2007 to be held at the Bayanihan Community Center. Bayanihan is located at 1010 Mission Street in San Francisco. The Summit will feature a wide variety of activities that will allow us to expand our community network and forge new relationships.

Some of the highlights:

VIP Tour of future site of San Francisco Filipino Cultural Center in Bloomingdale’s: A special VIP tour of the first San Francisco Filipino Cultural Center and Museum in Bloomingdale’s will be offered to Summit participants in the morning.

Political and Civic Engagement: Come join us in a community dialogue with distinguished invited guests like SF Mayor Gavin Newsom and Monterey Superior Court Judge Honorable Efren Iglesia.

Economic Development and Access: Business Owners and Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to learn and be informed on requirements of how to do business with government representatives from the City and County of San Francisco, the County of Alameda, among others. Best practices and models offered by successful Filipino Americans who have engaged in non-profit development will also be speaking.

Community Voices: Representatives from various Northern California communities, including Sacramento County, Monterey County, Solano County, San Joaquin County, and Sonoma County will have a dialogue on significant issues affecting their areas.

Luncheon Panel: A dynamic and diverse panel of medical professionals and community advocates will discuss the recent Desperate Housewives controversy during lunch.

Non-Profit Development: Learn how to enhance the effective and efficient use of community and Technology/Internet resources to help develop your Non-Profit organization.

Celebration: After the Summit, a reception to celebrate the appointment by Governor Schwarzenegger of Monterey County Superior Court Judge Honorable Efren Iglesia will be held. A nominations-based awards project called the “Kabayanihan Award” will also be launched.

Admission is $35 which includes continental breakfast, lunch and evening hors’ d’oeuvres. Registration begins at 8:30 AM at Bayanihan Community Center, 1010 Mission Street, SF at the corner of 6th and Mission.

Update:
Ribbon-Cutting of the Bayanihan Community Center has been postponed to another date. We will send you a notice regarding the date and time. The Bayanihan Community Center is one of only two Filipino Community Centers in San Francisco. The Center will have its official Ribbon-Cutting by invited officials.
